SUESCRAFTSTUFF

Susie's Scrapblog

My photo
United Kingdom
suescraftstuff:- I try to put all sorts of things into order in a scrapbook. mainly family. I Started scrapbooking in 2009 and now am totally addicted. Just recently I started making a few cards, mainly for friends and family, I really enjoy doing this, but there is such a lot more to learn. currently I am learning to use promarkers, they're fantastic!!... I have a cricut cutting machine, but like to embellish with different mediums rather than just the cricut cutouts. I love lace and flowers, also distressing and embossing. This is just one of my many hobbies I've had over the years, a big part of it was woodcraft and painting. The woodcraft bit I got from my dad, him and my mum are my all time favourite people, my dad was so kind and clever, dad, I miss you, because of him I still dabble in the woodwork a bit too. But I am loving putting all my photo's into a scrapbook, and lately making cards, to keep and remember everone in a much more interesting way than a normal photo album .hopefully it will be passed on in later years.

My Girls

Amy & Eloise, November 2011. The papers I used for this Layout were free with my monthly magazine 'simply cards and papercraft' It is from the 'nitwits' collection. I love their papers. I just adred a few embellishments and left it fairly plain as I love this photo, I wanted it to be the main focal point.

The King's Folly

A double page LO of some sculptures which are relative to a story written for the children and folk who walk in East Carlton Park. Market Harborough. Leics.  The story is about a King and his land, woodland spirits, dragons and witches. It's a super story and has a moral to the tale, look after your land, be yourself and appreciate all things that are around you.

Going cheep!

This Parrot Sanctuary/Zoo is situated about 5miles from my Mum's house in Lincolnshire. we have visited a couple of times to see and support the poorly parrots and the many birds and animals that these people care for. The little bird on the top of the picture, devoid of his feathers, is in a quarantine cage. I hope he gets better soon! Underneath are pictures of myself with some of the little birds and parrots that fly freely in an 'open' walk-through aviary. They are quite tame and it's a real pleasure to be 'at one' with these beautiful little birds. If you're ever in Lincolnshire on the A52 towards Skegness, drop in and pay them a visit, you'll be contributing a a very worthwhile cause, and you'll have a super day out in the bargain!

Thank Nature

I thank nature for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees and for the blue dream of sky.

A typical day walking for me and my little dog Jaz. This is our favourite place to walk, lots of places to sit and gaze, and for jaz to sniff! lots of nice people to chat to and little dogs for jaz to sniff! (You might get the idea that Jaz likes to sniff) There in the bottom two pics she is waiting at the benches for us to sit.

Dream Big !

My Grandson Harvey, Age just 2. 1/2 driving the little motorbikes at Wicksteed Park, Kettering, all by himself for the very first time! He made no mistakes, kept his foot on the pedal and steered perfectly! We were so proud of him ! After that he had a super chocolate ice cream cone to make the day !!

The Layout was inspired by Trudy Sigurdson's book 'Tantalizing Textures' .

Man's Best Friend

This is our little dog Jaz, she's now 2 years old and the most loving and faithful little dog ever, I take her out 3 times a day (weather permitting) mostly in the local park, she loves to sniffle through the woodland and trees, rolling in anything she finds 'doggily' attractive! While we are walking, we pass several benches, she always stops and stands up, like in the picture, as if to say 'shall we sit a while?' I sit down and she immediately jumps on my lap and sits there until I ask her " shall we go now?" I love her to bits and love our little walks. She makes my heart smile!

Walhanging

A Wallhanging I made with bits and pieces from my stash. wooden hearts, a 'log cabin' made from twigs from my local park, small mirrored squares edged with leading, some plaited scraps, a 'wreath' with mulberry flowers on, some wooden hoops with flowers, all hung from a scrap twig.

Whaaaa.....t

My dear Grandaughter Eloise, with one of her many many expressions, she is just sooooo funny now, 1yr 7months old. she is learning new things daily, I am amazed at how I can see her change from month to month, and yet can't remember how her mum Amy or her uncle Steve were at her age. I suppose the tiredness and the worry surpassed all the little things, or it was such a long time ago it's simply that I can't remember. They always say that you appreciate your grandchildren more than your own children. I do in a way that I am not as tired. But my own children have grown to be such amazing people that I appreciate and am proud of them more than they will ever know.

Brothers

My two gorgeous grandsons, Harvey aged 2.1/2 and Zachary aged 8months.
This is Harvey's first Bicycle, a 'balance' bike. such a good idea, when he's gotten used to this he'll be off on a 'real' bike, no probelm.   and Zach, such a little smiler, such  lovely natured little boys.

Potato Hawk

A picture drawn by my daughter Amy, It's for a friend of hers who's father used this very same thing, 2 potatoes, with sticks for legs and screws for eyes,  feathers for wings and a tail, to scare away unwanted birds from his garden. His son called it a potato hawk. So here we have it. I coloured the sketch in for her with Letraset promarkers and made it into a birthday card for her to give to him. I think he'll be chuffed, don't you?

A Picture for Eloise's room

I found this idea on a web page, a little different, but it inspired me to do a similar thing for my grandaughter's wall. It's just a whole load of left over buttons I have, double-sided taped to the letter 'E' and the spaces that the buttons cannot cover were covere with brads, flat backed pearls and at the very last to fill in all the smallest spaces, seed beads.

A couple of altered numbers I did for my Mums 'nearly 90 birthday souree in June 2011. I base painted them white first with acrylic paint, then pale yellow, crackle glazed them, then daubed off white on top with a mixture of white and gold acrylic. added roses and stickers and a chipboard 'N' for Nell, lace, a gold heat embossed butterfly, ribbon and finally some 'say it in crystals' swirls.

We are the music makers

I loved this Poem, it always seemed fitting when we were playing in the band, dreaming we were famous, and dreaming about this and that, what if's etc... and world losers..... so many musicians I know were, always searching for that elusive dream.

We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams.
World-losers and world-forsakers,
Upon whom the pale moon gleams;
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world forever, it seems
