Susie's Scrapblog

My photo
United Kingdom
suescraftstuff:- I try to put all sorts of things into order in a scrapbook. mainly family. I Started scrapbooking in 2009 and now am totally addicted. Just recently I started making a few cards, mainly for friends and family, I really enjoy doing this, but there is such a lot more to learn. currently I am learning to use promarkers, they're fantastic!!... I have a cricut cutting machine, but like to embellish with different mediums rather than just the cricut cutouts. I love lace and flowers, also distressing and embossing. This is just one of my many hobbies I've had over the years, a big part of it was woodcraft and painting. The woodcraft bit I got from my dad, him and my mum are my all time favourite people, my dad was so kind and clever, dad, I miss you, because of him I still dabble in the woodwork a bit too. But I am loving putting all my photo's into a scrapbook, and lately making cards, to keep and remember everone in a much more interesting way than a normal photo album .hopefully it will be passed on in later years.

This is the second page from an album I am doing for my mother. I used My Mind's eye, pp. 'la paperie' Martha Stewarts deep edge punch and my cricut with some wonderful files from Penny Duncan's creations blog. Many thanks Penny for these wonderful files. especially the hibiscus flowers and leaves.

The two of us.

1st Page of my Mum's scrapbook

Beloved wait for me until I can come to you

I know no other can  fill the gap

Inside me left now you are gone

Beloved wait for me

I always loved to see you smile

But my greatest ecstasy was waking first

To watch you sleep like an angel next to me

But now your eyes are closed forever love

And I would give my life to see you smile again

Re-sticking a cricut cutting mat

Cricut Mat - re-sticking   Wednesday, 18 August 2010
I've had a great couple of days, I bought 2 new cricut mats, then decided to try to restick my old one,(bought the new ones just in case I messed up)   I already have some sticky stuff remover, I sprayed that on..... all the yukky stuff came right off, I re-did it a couple of times and it was sparkly clean.  washed off the residue..
then... I sprayed it with 3M repositionalble spray adhesive.  (It's what I already had) Left it to dry overnight.... yes...still sticky in the morning...VERY
I patted it  (conditioned it, as is the right term)  a lot, almost got my hand stuck.... I had visions of me walking to the surgery with a mat stuck to my hand!!!  so I kept patting it. it got better.
Tried it out. perfect!!!!! thin paper got a bit stuck, but after a while I just sort of patted it gently on the mat rather than smooth it out.  but it's awesome now!!
So.... I have2 new mats - unused.  and am so proud of myself for havng made a sucess of it

When my daughter was small, her father and I made up a story about where all her bottles came from when she was a baby, she was told that there were little gnomes living under the fridge and they used to make the bottles every night ready the the next days feed. The head Gnome was called 'Agul' (this was the first sound my daughter made as a baby) Also they were actually called 'Boggle Gnomes' (baby speak) . There, in the large picture is the drawing my husband drew of Agul, and the two small pictures are of the steps leading up from the basement to the fridge, and the last, a small gnome just leaving, having delivered his order.

Brambley Hedge

When my daughter was small we used to read this to her all the time, she loved it and we would imagine the little mice in their tree trunk home. On our Camping trip this year I found this tree it reminded me of the Brambley Hedge Book. Here is a LO with the tree I found, the book illustration of the inside of the tree and the mice's kitchen.

Mike

Had this paper for a long time, I think it was free in a magazine, I liked it so much but couldn't find a photo worthy, but here's Mike, my other half, my friend, my soulmate, a worthy subject for my paper. This photo was taken while we were in Greece in 2007 in Zante.

Grandad Weston

This is another photo I had given to me of my paternal Grandfather Jack. Here he is working on the roads in London,Later he became a stone mason, which was to eventually take is life, the dust from working with marble/granite caused lung infections and in those days they had no chance of survival. Don't they all look the same in their caps, waistcoats and moustaches? lol
My father didn't know his father well as he was only a baby when his father passed away, but according to family he was a well liked and kind man. This was taken on or around the 1920's.

As Time Goes By

This is the last of my old photo's that were given to me by my family, it is of myself, my aunt and my father, The middle one is about 1948/9 and the others must be early 50's. I used Tim Holt's Ideology paper and all the rest is my own stash, the wording is cut out by the cricut with 'George' cartridge.

YouTube - Tim Holtz Paper Roses with your Cricut

An amazing video of simple yet stunning paper roses. I tried these out today and made 4. they are not quite as easy as they make it look, but I'm sure with a little practice it will get easier.

Three generations

This is myself, my mother and my daughter Amy. I think Amy and my mother look very alike. I wanted to scrap us three all on one page to see the resemblance , I used My mind's eye Paperie for the background papers, and the cricut to cut the scrolls.

More vintage family pictures

Just a simple layout this time, wanted the swirly frame and the pictures to be the focal point not the embellishments.   made a rose from the tutorial link under these posts.  The pictures are of my mother and brother (main pic) a mixture of mother/grandmother and aunts in the small pics.

Grunge paper roses

The link below, is from scrapbook.com's tutorial for these amazing roses. I have made a trial one out of newspaper, it came out really well. but, alas, the dog 'killed' it and so no photo's. must keep them safe from now onwards.  The Layout here has ready made roses on, but next time I hope to do it with my own.  This is photo of my grandmother whom I never knew, but I wanted to keep her memory alive as she was my dear Dad's mum. this LO was done with My Mind'seye, la paperie paper, cricut/SCAL swirly flourishes, lace and a doily of my own.
