Trying out new ideas

Thought I'd try a few different ideas from my normal layouts, I acquired some clock parts and this set me thinking, so I added a few to my fav photo, cut out some pretty designs on the cricut, added a few embellishments from my stash, inked it up a bit added some lace and a little bling . I rather like it as a first, now I have to dig deeper into the realms of steampunk!!

My Wonderful little grand daughter Eloise. such a happy little girl.
I did this Layout in very muted pretty tones to attract the attention mainly to the photograph.
Paper is from the 'Booful' collection. Lettering done with the cricut and PC.

My trip to the Lake district 2012.  It's such a beautiful place, no wonder William Wordsorth lived and wrote there.  I wish we had more time to explore Grassmere, it was enchanting. The top picture is where Wordsworth is buried. there is a small chapel there and it has arches of flowers around the doorway. magic!

All my memories

Seemed fitting to do a page about all the scrapbook pages I've done. it seems like my whole life is in these books. I hope they'll go on for a long time after I've finished with them.

Scrapbook Layouts of the Grandchildren

 

These Layouts were mainly done with the Cricut expression.  All papers, flowers and Lettering from my own stash. Chipboard cut out with the plantin schoolbook cartridge and covered with papers, all from my stash, mainly scraps.

Family

This is My cousin Linda, her husband and her two sons.  She's the daughter of my Dad's Brother Teddy. We were kids together, grew up in London and Essex, spent quite a few nights at parties with our family, especially at Christmas. When we were both working in London, during the 60's we used to chat all the time on the phone and always laughed until we cried !! We had the same sense of humour. She was like the sister I never had.
After life's journey we seemed to lose touch, I had several relationship upheavals, moved several times and consequently lost each other's whereabouts.
Linda said she often thought about my brother and I and so she tracked my brother down in Australia of all places, he contacted me after getting her email address and I got in touch, and now we're back on track and in touch which is wonderful.
There's nothing like your real family roots.

Look how we've grown

This layout was done with a small pad of 6x6 black and white/grey printed paper, the lace was from my own stash, all the lettering, stars and small black flourish were cut out with SCAL and the cricut. 
Here is my son and his family, his wife Heidi, their two boys Harvey ad Zachary. the boys seem to have shot up, Harvey is almost 4 and Zachary 2.

I made this today to put my crochet bits and bobs in, originally it was just a cheap plastic basket, I padded and lined it with the tiny print, then added a skirt with pockets for the needles etc. added a little bit of lace and voila, a nice cheap pretty sewing caddy.

Childhood

The cartoon says it all, "Childhood is the most beautiful of all life's seasons"  This is Eloise, April 2012. She is doing what she loves to do most when she visits her Nanny 'glitter' painting and sticking. She spent a good hour or more in my craft room painting with poster paints, ended up using her hands and having a whale of a time, she needed a good bath afterwards though ! lol .  This Layout was done with printed paper from several different packs of odd pages I had left, I found an amazing shop in Kettering that sells the prettiest of lace, I used three different kinds here, plus the flower on the tag was a section of a different kind. brads, ribbon and flowers finished it off.

Male Birthday card

A card I made for my son's birthday, He loves his coffee machine,  we bought him a coffee pod holder as a gift, so I thought I'd try and make a coffee themed card.
I downloaded a burlap background, printed it on white card, over-printed it with coffee slogans, cut out a clip-art image of a coffee cup, used my cuttlebug to cut out the 'happy birthday' tag with the shapeabilities die. inked in the wording and over wrote it with a glitter gel pen.
The embellishment was a strip of 'burlap' pp, with black ribbon and rik-rak.

My attempt at crochet roses

This is my attempt at making crochet roses for my scrapbook projects, I used 4ply yarn for the first one and cotton twill thread for the second.

Here is the pattern I used, with all credit from the blog mentioned below (pompomemporium)

Leaving a 10" length for sewing,            chain 57.

Row 1 (Wrong side): (Dc, ch 2, dc) in sixth ch from hook (5 skipped chs count as first dc plus ch 2),*ch 2, skip next 2 chs, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch; repeat from *   across: 36 sps.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn; 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp, (6 dc in next
ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2 sp) 5 times, (9 dc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-2
sp) 5 times, (12 dc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next sp)  7 times;  finish off leaving a 10" length for sewing.

Thread yarn needle with yarn end from beginning chain. With right side
facing and beginning with first petal made, refer to photo to roll Rose;
sew to secure as you roll.

Then thread needle with ending yarn and sew to secure.

Love this blog, many thanks to www.pompomemporium.com  for the pattern, so easy to understand, and such a pretty outcome, far the easiest pattern to understand , especially for a beginner like me!
I am making these in a variety of yarns, string and threads for my scrapbooking and cards. watch this space! :)

I Miss you Dad

I miss my Dad, I miss the laughter, the stories he told us about his childhood, I miss the sarcasm, the wit and the wicked sense of humour, I miss the fun we had making things in his shed, the smell of the newly sawn wood, the glue pot on the stove, the smell of polish.  I miss the cups of 'splosh' the cockney slang, the music.  I miss you Dad XX

Vintage 'Me'

I took some old photo's of myself and printed them out, but my printer had almost run out of colour ink, the result was a little soft and a bit faded, this gave me the idea of doing a vintage style page with these pics.  I used all oddments from my stash for this, borders cut with Martha Stewart's edge punches and oddments of 'Papermania' lace.  The flowers were cut from oddments and punched out with Papermania's embossed flower punch. the small white paper flowers are from Thailand.
